What are the signs of overwatering in houseplants and how can I fix it?

As someone who's been gardening since childhood, I've always emphasized the importance of watering correctly. However, I've recently noticed that my snake plant is starting to droop, which makes me think I might be overwatering it. I've tried letting the soil dry out between waterings, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly. My setup includes a mix of self-watering pots and traditional pots, and I want to ensure I’m providing the right care to prevent root rot. Can anyone share their experiences and tips on identifying overwatering signs and how to rescue a plant that may be suffering from it?
