Are there specific light setups to encourage flowering in my outdoor plants?

I'm curious about the optimal light conditions to encourage flowering in my outdoor plants, particularly since I'm interested in growing edible flowers alongside my herbs. I’ve read that light duration and intensity can significantly impact the flowering process, but I'm unsure how to best implement that in my outdoor garden setup. My garden is mostly full sun, but I have some areas that receive dappled sunlight throughout the day. I've been considering using supplemental lighting during the transition from vegetative to flowering stages, but I want to avoid shocking my plants. Can anyone provide advice on the best practices for light setups that promote flowering? Any insights into timing and the type of lighting would be very helpful!
