How can I properly zone my pond plants for the best growth?

I’m in the process of designing my backyard pond and I’m super excited about it! I know different plants need various depths, but I’m not entirely clear on how to properly zone them. My pond is in a sunny spot, and I've added rocks and shelves for different water levels, but I’m unsure how to arrange the plants to give them the best chance to thrive. I’ve read about marginal plants, floating plants, and submerged ones but can't visualize how they should be laid out. Can anyone share their experiences or tips on how to effectively zone pond plants? That would really help me out!
