How can I prepare hollyhock seeds for planting in poorly drained soil?

I've established a xeriscape garden that prioritizes water efficiency, but some spots have surprisingly poor drainage due to the underlying sandy soil. I’ve read about hollyhocks and their ability to tolerate some degree of neglect, but I’m concerned that I might face issues if the soil doesn’t drain well. I’ve tried adding compost to improve soil structure in those areas. Should I take any specific steps to prepare the seeds or the planting site to ensure proper growth? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
