What native plants thrive best in a botanical garden setting?

I'm really passionate about native plants and I'm curious how they fare in botanical gardens. I've noticed that some gardens near me focus heavily on non-native species, which bugs me a bit 😅. My garden is in an urban area of southern California, where the climate is pretty warm and dry. I've tried incorporating some local native plants, like California poppies and manzanita, but I want to learn more about what thrives in larger, structured environments like botanical gardens. Can anyone share their experiences or suggestions for native plants that do well there? I'm eager to promote biodiversity even in these larger settings!
