How can I encourage wildflower seeds to germinate better in my Kyoto garden?

I'm really excited to add some wildflowers to my garden in Kyoto! I've got a small patch where I usually grow some traditional Japanese flora, but I want to mix it up a bit with colorful wildflowers. I've tried scattering the seeds directly on the soil, but I'm not seeing much germination. My garden is mostly shaded by a cherry tree, and I'm not sure if thatโ€™s affecting the seeds. I've read that different wildflower species have varied light requirements, but Iโ€™m not sure which ones would be best for my setup. Can anyone help with tips on how to improve germination rates? Should I prepare the soil differently or maybe stratify the seeds first? Thanks so much! ๐ŸŒผ
