How can I encourage wildflower seeds to germinate better in my Kyoto garden?

I'm really excited to add some wildflowers to my garden in Kyoto! I've got a small patch where I usually grow some traditional Japanese flora, but I want to mix it up a bit with colorful wildflowers. I've tried scattering the seeds directly on the soil, but I'm not seeing much germination. My garden is mostly shaded by a cherry tree, and I'm not sure if that’s affecting the seeds. I've read that different wildflower species have varied light requirements, but I’m not sure which ones would be best for my setup. Can anyone help with tips on how to improve germination rates? Should I prepare the soil differently or maybe stratify the seeds first? Thanks so much! 🌼
