How to effectively trap Japanese beetles in my community garden?

I'm currently managing a community garden plot where I grow a bunch of Indian spices, and I've noticed an uptick in Japanese beetles this season. I've tried using some basic traps, but they don't seem to be very effective. My garden is located in a sunny area, and the beetles love my basil and curry leaves! I've read about homemade traps using soapy water and even some sugar, but I'm not sure if those will work. Can anyone share their success stories or tips on which traps are the best? I really want to keep my plants safe while also being organic in my approach!
