Are there specific types of worms that enhance composting in my bin?

As someone who has spent years studying plant genetics, I'm now expanding my gardening endeavors to include vermicomposting. I've read that certain types of worms can significantly enhance the composting process and improve the quality of the compost produced. My current compost bin setup consists of a mix of kitchen scraps and yard waste, and I’m curious about which species of worms would be most effective in this kind of environment. I've tried adding a common compost worm species, but I'm wondering if there are more specialized varieties that could expedite the process or enhance nutrient content. What have others experienced with different worm types in their compost bins? Any specific recommendations for a beginner like me would really help!
