Yellow leaves on tomato plants - nutrient deficiency or overwatering?

My tomato plants are about 2 feet tall and growing in 5-gallon containers on my balcony. Over the past week, the lower leaves have started turning yellow and some have brown spots. I water them every other day when the soil feels dry. I\'m in zone 7b and they get about 6 hours of direct sunlight. Could this be a nitrogen deficiency? Or am I watering too much?
