What soil amendments work best for growing heirloom beans?

I've been working hard to boost my soil health for my heirloom beans, but I'm not sure about the best amendments to use. My garden's soil in Shanghai has some clay but also gets a bit compacted, so I'm looking for ways to improve drainage and fertility. I’ve added some organic compost and mulch, but I want to know if there are specific nutrients or amendments that heirloom beans particularly love! What have you all found to be effective? Any specific ratios or types of amendments that you recommend for a thriving bean patch? 🤔
