Can I grow heirloom tomatoes in containers, and what size should I use?

I’ve been managing my urban garden in containers for a few years now, and I’m really interested in growing heirloom tomatoes this coming season! I want to make sure I provide them with enough space to thrive. I currently use 5-gallon containers for my other vegetables, but I'm curious if that’s sufficient for tomatoes. I've read that some varieties can get really big, so I’d love to know your thoughts on the best container sizes. Do you have any recommendations on soil mixes or specific care tips for container-grown heirloom tomatoes? Thanks for your help!
